Decision Conferencing

The benefits

Generating a plan of action and obtaining commitment to seeing it through is often desired in all businesses but not always achieved. With local and sometimes individual concerns we often observe conflict. Individuals may not communicate well or shy away from owning business risk.

Whatever the reason, a defined approach to decision making is needed - so that people can gain a common understanding of a problem, reach agreement and commitment to action or, agree suitable ways forward for change within an organisation. This is the purpose of a workshop or seminar based on Decision Conferencing.

What is Decision Conferencing?

Decision Conferencing is a process whereby a group of people who are concerned about some complex issues meet in an intense problem-solving workshop - typically over two days.

One of the methods used to agree ways forward is the creation of a business model which incorporates the differing perspectives of the business mangers or representatives.

Individuals can then use the model to explore the implications of their judgements.

By adapting this model a shared understanding of the problem is developed and agreement can be reached on what to do.

The workshop is managed by a consultant, who acts independent, effectively as an outsider to the organisation. He will field subjects for discussion encouraging creative thinking to resolve any issues representatives may face.
